It is a Leonardo
da Vinci's work for the church of his patron , the Duke Lodovico Sforza . It is
the scene of the Last Supper of Jesus with the apostles , before being arrested
and crucified as the Bible describes . It is one of the largest known and
prized possessions of the world.
The work is in the convent of Santa Maria

serve as a place to bury their relatives.
This painting , which is based on John 13:21
, Jesus announces to the twelve apostles that someone among them would betray

isolated Christ at the center. The characters of the work are: Bartholomew,
James the Less, Andrew, Judas Iscariot, Peter, John, Thomas, James the Greater
